Am wondering if the timing could have anything to do with the Congress retirement benefits program and being in office for the length of time necessary to qualify to “retire”.

I think you have to serve five years to be vested in the Congressional Pension Program.

Didn’t she get elected in 2008? I hear she has just over 5 years! Guess we know why the timing.
