Wanted to add..the people he reported it to are far more to blame than Mr Paterno, if he shares any blame at all, as Mr Paterno is not law enforcement.
You could argue whether he could have done more to do follow up perhaps.
Even if he had followed through it would still have rested on law enforcement to persue it.

Portraying Paterno (i.e. God Incarnate on that campus) as essentially powerless when it comes to his staff is not accurate, I think. From what I heard he could have called for Sandy’s public execution on the 50 yard line, and it would have been carried out in minutes.

Mr Paterno wasn’t much of a man or this would have stopped as soon as he was informed.
