You can hardly equate campus police with an actual municipal police department

Penn State is different.

From their web site:

The Penn State University Police provides all law enforcement and security services to the University Park campus. We employ:

•46 full-time armed officers

•Six traffic and parking officers

•Five police dispatcher/recorders

•Approximately 200 students as auxiliary officers and escorts

The department provides 24-hour patrol services to the campus and University-owned properties year round. The University Police is governed by a state statute that gives our officers the same authority as municipal police officers.

Bolds mine. PSU police have jurisdiction over crimes on campus.

And if you went to Penn State, University Park Campus, you can imagine the cost on the State College taxpayers if Penn State didn’t have their own police force.

I’m still amazed that most here don’t see that but since I know PA law and PA and Penn State, it’s easy for me. Out of Staters don’t know this just like I don’t know most of other States’ laws and univeristies.

This is not the simple thing many would like to think it is.
