Once again, you sound like a very reasonable person; however, the one thing that is indeed black or white is the harming of innocents who cannot defend themselves (and harming them in a particularly heinous manner that can scar some for life). For me, the nuance of JoePa's relationship with Sandusky does not excuse him one whit.

And please remember: JoePa had a very long history of burying and forgiving his football players' bad behaviors over the years (not unlike most other D-1 football coaches)--everything from indiscretions and poor judgments to felonies. He treated this like one of his players was caught shoplifting or got into a bar fight. For me, that is unforgivable.

We will just agree to disagree. He reported the incident, which was witnessed by McQueary who reported to his superior (Paterno). I blame the university officials who were ultimately responsible. And what about the 1998 incident that was investigated by the police?
