Nice reasoned post..that is sort of where I am at with Newt. Here is my current concerns.

The "prize" is going to the highest bidder. They are buying the top seat in DC these days and it ain't pretty.

Right now Obama has the most money, that is a fact.

If the people do not get completely behind one candidate and flood him with money right now, Obama will win. Unfair, wrong, despicable...you bet..but reality.

We, the people, need to pick one guy..now, before Florida or forever hold your peace. If it goes to convention..the evil foreign wallets will come out from every rat hole on the planet all at once and the professional financiers will be ready with their ready made banks and promotional markets to collect...and we know who has those connections...slippery Romney.

Obama also has the advantage of being incumbent. Not having to pre-campaign and having the actual power is a giantic asset that should not be overlooked. If he does do what various rumors have been saying and shed Biden for Hillary, it is going to turn into one huge and nasty fight.
I know Hillary is not exactly popular around here, but she is smart and very capable, and Bill C is no slouch at motivating the base either. I’ll not lose a war by believing the propaganda that Dems are dumb. If they were dumb, they could not be so effective.

I totally agree about gathering around one candidate - not just with money but with feet on the street, manning the phones and doing the thousand thankless tasks it takes to get a person elected.
It seems to be Newt.
I am not going to disrespect Santorum supporters by saying bail and support Newt - it is obvious from my posts that Newt is second string for me after Perry, and everyone has the right to be attached to their choice of candidate. Yet I will do whatever I can. Have already offered my small services to Newt’s campaign, as I am forbidden from donating.

Looking at it rationally, I think Santorum can stick in at least until Florida, though beyond, if he loses badly in Fl, would be a tactical error.
Yes, he is going to attack Newt. He has no chance at all of picking up much of Romney’s or Paul’s support, so he has to hit the person he is closest to.
Like the Bain attacks on Romney, any attack Santorum does on Newt will have to be the same sort of attack the Dems will pull in the election. It might be helpful to Newt for stuff to be “old news” by September/October.

Just spitballing some thoughts!
