For all the grips about Newt’s seemingly off the wall comments, I DO believe that just comes from an active, creative, brilliant mind that sometimes doesn’t use a practical filter.
BUT he does that in his everyday conversation, never did it legislatively. I would think that as POTUS he’d clear any major moves with advisors before acting on them.
There’s a world of difference between simply stating an idea and acting on it...tho a POTUS does have to watch his every word because everything he says is reported. If elected, he’s going to have to learn not to ‘think out loud.’

That is exactly right. Look at what Newt has actually done. Legislatively it is very Conservative. A lot of people miss your point including Glenn Beck who has cherry picked what Newt has said over the many years and twisted it to support his views. Glenn is going to go down in flames if he has not already.
