Brit Hume tried to kill the momentum at the very end by reciting a FOX poll saying Newt has 56% unfavorable ratings nationwide. He said the House and Senate are going to try to destroy his candidacy because they’re afraid if he’s the nominee he’ll lose and lose them seats at the same time.
I’m not so sure they’ll do that, especially since a lot of the house are Tea Partiers now and the Republicans don’t have a ton of seats up for grabs in the Senate this year.
I think we supporters have to look at how Newt completely turned his poll numbers around in the primary once people got a closer look at him in the debates. That unfavorable may also be weighted against him higher in the very liberal blue states, so it may not be cutting as much into a potential electoral college victory. The media created a bad impression of Newt when they controlled everything in the ‘90s. They’ve been less successful at doing that since the era of the internet, talk radio and FOX News boomed. I am expecting FOX will get back on the side of whoever the nominee is once the primary is over.
We'll see how that looks after SC and FL.
