OK- So why didn’t future leader/president Santorum, elicit such commentary?

You are right, but if it were in Rick Santorum to say such a thing, he would be leading this race now. It isn’t. On the other hand ,we know who has consistently said many such things over the course of 16, or is it 17, debates.
