" And if it was a republican opponent of Newt, that would be off limits as far as I was concerned. "
I welcome your statement....
The point I was trying to make is IF there were another GOP canidate in the same boat as Newt's situation, would they, the Newt supporters be biased towards Newt and only grant him forgiveness ? or would they extend their forgiveness towards the other person.
How is that " Sanctimonious " in some people's eyes to try to make that point clear to some who here on FR, how ? ?

What a stupid question, IF another person would have similar issues as Newt Gingrich and repented, but had even BETTER abilities as Newt Gingrich we would be voting for him! sheesh..
What part of forgiveness do you not understand?

You know, FRiend, your whole assumption is, frankly, an insult to my, and I think some others' here, faith. You're saying that I would allow a person's politics to determine when to apply, and when to withhold, Jesus' instructions to forgive "70 times 7."
Maybe you would reserve following Jesus' instruction only when it involves those with whom you agree politically. If so, that's your business. But you are in error assuming all Christians would.
God first. THEN Country.
