Newt Gingrich’s woman problem [I push leftist propaganda on FR and all I got was this zot]
Washington Post ^ | 01/20/2012 | Felicia Sonmez

How will the details revealed by Marianne Gingrich regarding her former husband’s personal life – and Newt Gingrich’s defiant response – play out among the GOP presidential primary electorate?

But it’s worth keeping in mind that even before Marianne Gingrich went public, Newt Gingrich was already facing tough odds when it comes to his support among women nationally — a factor that underscores the argument made by his GOP rivals against his electability in the fall.

There typically tends to be a gender gap in presidential general elections, as women vote more Democratic than men.

But a CNN/Time/Opinion Research survey conducted Jan. 11-12 showed that among national adults, Gingrich faces the biggest gender gap of all the GOP contenders.

If the general election had been held in mid-January – before news of the Marianne Gingrich interviews had broken -- the CNN survey shows President Obama would have taken 54 percent to Gingrich’s 41 percent. Among only men, that gap narrows to a six-percentage point difference: 49 percent for Obama and 43 percent to Gingrich.

But among women, it widens to 18 points: 58 percent for Obama and 40 percent for Gingrich.

Marianne Gingrich has no moral high ground to stand on. She cheated with him on his first wife. Now she wants us to feel sorry for her? She thinks her opinion of his fitness to be President should count? Really?

I've also seen how being cheated on can make some folks become very bitter and a bit unbalanced; they can never seem to move on and can only see the other person as evil incarnate.

Huh?

People are getting zotted now on FR for not liking Gingrich?

Not believing Gingrich can win the general is "leftist propoganda?

I wouldn't go so far as to say Gingrich couldn't win the general. However, I would not say people who believe such based on his womanizing are "leftist propogandists".

Hmmm. Interesting ZOT.

I see that americanophile was no fan of Gingrich in the primaries, but is that ZOT-worthy? I’m still wavering between Gingrich and Santorum for Saturday. If I decide Santorum is the better choice for me, do I get zotted, too?

I read through the first page of posting history. The only thing I saw on there that was really objectionable was a reference to how unfair it is for capital gains to be taxed at a lower rate. (Americanophile needs to understand that the invested money was already taxed ONCE as income, duh.)

Anyway, I actually LIKE to see articles like this on FR because it gives me good insight to the lefty mindset. Granted, you expect the BARF ALERT, but it’s clear that americanophile doesn’t think Gingrich is the right choice in the primary, and the woman problem is real.

Oh, well. I hope we haven’t devolved to a point where just because JimRob has endorsed we are all expected to fall in line a la 1984. I may still vote for Gingrich tomorrow. We’ll see. Gonna do a final side-by-side with Santorum tonight.

Bachmann can bugger off, and good riddance.

As long as she continues to vote OK then she should try to stay in her Congressional seat, but she is not a national figure.

Our concern about her right now is whether she will endorse Mitt Romney after helping him so much, or will she try to regain some respect by endorsing Newt.

These same women, in all likelyhood including the author of this piece, all voted for BJ Clinton. They did so after hearing from Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers and Juanita Broderick.
Hypocrites.

I don’t approve at all of what Newt has done, but allowing Obama four more years of power is much too dangerous for this country to worry about two affairs. (I’m female, btw.)
Everybody has flaws. This election, trite as it sounds, we must select the least of the evils. This time, that’s Newt.

You mean like a common street thug and community organizer like Hussein Obama....?

Of course not. Obama's a bum.

We should do much better. We don't need another unsteady President.

That's why we need to beware of electing another based on speaking ability.

I do like the fact that Chuck has endorsed Newt.

Newt certainly has the endorsement momentum, it seems...

Not sure about "far" more steady. I think we need REAL steady, not just steadier.

I read through the posting history too.

Seemed like a pretty patriotic poster. Certainly not a leftist propogandist.

Hmmm.

Wrong. If women ‘liked’ bachmann, she would still be in the race.

Take a good long look at the Republican field with this in mind: Who is the one who can stand up to MSM and Democrat dirty tricks and scrutiny? I’ve done that, and for all his baggage, the answer is Newt among the remaining field.

Everyone has baggage. Everyone has issues we don’t like. No one is a shining star or ideal candidate. No one. I don’t like that. You don’t like that. But it’s the fact we have to deal with.

So, all things considered, the one thing we don’t need is a candidate who will pull punches, try to be nice and reasonable when the MSM and Democrats are tearing them apart because they have to “stay above it all”. Not this time. America is at stake, not just some election. America! And that means we need a candidate who won’t roll over but go for the gut.

If we lose, and it’s possible with any in the field at this time, I want to at least be able to say “We fought the good fight and didn’t cave”. And for me, that spells Gingrich.

As for the zot, I can’t speak to that. Wasn’t my decision, I had no input.

I don't decide who gets zotted. I just do one of the after-action reports. May I suggest
that you check the posting history of the zottee? (link in my post) You may be able to
figure out why he was banned from posting.

If his worst-offending posts have been removed, you may not be able to tell why. In
that case you'll have to take your question up with the mods or with Jim Robinson.

Can someone set me straight..Newt has been married 3 times..this second wife was running around with Newt while he was still married to the first..am I correct? I am wondering how this woman has any high moral ground to stand on...sounds like what goes around comes around to me...she helped break up the first marriage...now her marriage is gone and wanting to ruin the man she cheated with in the first place..sour grapes??? Do I have this right?
