I know several conservative women. Every single one of them including at least 2 *gasp* who are single mothers (the very kind that people would have us believe would hate Newt) are supporting him because he will spank Obama and take back this country.

I was speaking to a friend last week who has already swallowed the character assassination of Newt, even before this latest interview. He was surprised I supported Newt, saying he would be easy to demonize because of his affairs.

I thought Newt started the counter offensive well, handling that first question last night fairly superbly. That moderator must be really ticked, getting so humiliated by a *gasp* (R).

Thank you for the discussion as well, and for the time for me to FINALLY track down the link I wanted, with Judge Napolitano discussing a radio clip from Santorum.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gwwmm-cQxU&feature=player_embedded#!

It is pretty sobering, not just for Santorum’s unapologetic worldview, but also for Judge Napolitano voicing much of the same concern that we FReepers have had as to what our choices are. And THAT was immediately following Iowa when we still had a full field!

The harsh reality is that the media has systematically winnowed away all comers and they will continue to do so, (If We Let Them!) until they have anointed the candidate they know is beatable. A candidate who meets THEIR criteria. Someone they can classify as weak or hesitant by nature, or owing to a lack of experience on the national stage,(Santorum). Someone who the base will have no passion for, who people would vote for only out of desperation, or ignorance (ROMNEY).

Good, bad or indifferent, the truth is that Gingrich does NOT fit their mold. Newt knows what is at stake here, he knows what a statesman is, and that we are sorely in need of one.

Is Newt’s philosophical political view scarier than Santorum’s? That is probably a individual call. Will Newt be able to overcome his foibles and become the statesman we need? Only God knows the answer to that question, but what I know is that he is a heck of a seasoned fighter, and right now, I believe that is what America needs, because we are facing enemies on all sides.

Thanks again for the discussion, FRiend, and may God grant each of us the strength and wisdom we will need to see this through.
Tatt

LOL for sure. If not for all his make-up he’d have been white as a ghost because his face looked like he had lost his best friend. Complete and utter take down.

Gingrich has been my choice from the start. He is the best choice to restore constitutional authority and pull back an out of control government. He will make a great president if we survive Obama as a nation.

Santorum supported Arlen Specter and Lisa Mookowski, arguably far worse as endorsements. Specter was the sixtieth vote for Obamacare.

I like Rick, and won't hold those mistakes against him if he wins.

First part of obvious acronym: Newt, because I trust the others a little bit less......

Also my I tend remember what candidates do...

I have never gotten over Gingrich and this move...

Thanks for that link. I know for sure Santorum isn’t the best choice we could possibly have... The reason I am supporting Santorum is that he is honest.

Remember Napolitano wants Ron Paul...

Do you know why Santorum supported Spector?

It was a calculated move based on judicial appointments and Rick turned out to be right.

That is one of the unfortunate side effects of the politics in this country...until we eliminate judicial activism we will continue to see that crap.

But at least Santorum has reasonable (I may not agree) explanations for his decisions...Newt on the other hand sums it up...well I was wrong - yet he continues to prop up some of the worst presidents our country has ever seen even during these debates...

Andrew Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and FDR...

How can a true conservative support any of those?

Rick was wrong to endorse Specter, period. It's interesting that you can forgive Santorum's very bad endorsements, but not Newt's.

Specter has done far more damage than Scuzzyfuzzy ever will.

I forgive all of them for their mistakes, etc...

However you can find a small hand full for Santorum but you could write a series of novels on Gingrich’s failures, mistakes and quite frankly his deep lack of principles and ethics...

Wasn’t it the GOP themselves that heavily fined Gingrich for ethics violations when he was in control? What kind of ethics do you think we will have when he is in the WH?

Mark my words...if Gingrich is elected he will be the GOP equivalent of Obama - not with his hatred of America but certainly his hatred of our governmental process - Gingrich will side-step congress and the US Constitution just as much as Obama - oh he will start out doing it eliminating the things that Obama did...but he won’t stop there he will just keep going.

The country is entering an incredibly dangerous phase and things are going to fall apart during the next 4 years - BIG TIME. Do we want someone in office that respects our contracts - The US Constitution - or do we just want another “Administrator” to make all the decisions for us.
