I think you mischaracterize Newt's history.

Not in the least. If anything I understate it.

Looking at the records of the four candidates who remain in the race, I call it a toss up between Newt and Santorum as to who is more conservative.

I believe Newt is more articulate and has a better chance of beating Mitt than Santorum does.

I trust Santorum more than I trust Newt.

Keeping Newt on a short leash, I would say that If I was a voter in SC, I would vote for Newt.

How do you keep hiom on a short leash? He's wildly undisciplined and thinks he's the smartest guy in politics and if we don't like a position he decides to take it's because we're not smart enough to see what he's doing. Sound familiar? After he madde the couch commercials with Pelosi Hannity asked him why he did it and he said "Global warming is a fact and I'm the only conservative who sees that there's a need to craft a conservative approach tro the pronblem." I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. I'll move my support to Santorum, FWIW.
