Um... Newt traded on his insider connections to make several million dollars in the 15 years following his ouster as Speaker.

Did he do it behind closed doors? Insider trading? You know, like members of Congress?

Some politicians - believe it or not - balance ego with service.

Depends on how you defines "service".Newt served plenty. He took the heat for policies that benefitted America even when members of his own party wouldn't.

Absolutely, best time to bury one's head in the sand is while selecting the nominee in a crucial election.

Who is burying their head in the sand? I am aware of Newt's faults. The issue is, do these disqualify him from running form President. Um, no.

And the best way to do it is by running a fatally flawed opponent of conservatism and handing Obama a 2nd term?

You mean, like supporting Romney or RuPaul for President?

Rick Santorum. The guy who won Iowa and beat Gingrich in New Hampshire. The candidate who is both more conservative and more electable than Gingrich.
