Bob Walker, a senior Gingrich adviser, says the campaign will fight back. “It is pretty nasty to use personal tragedy for political exploitation,” he says. “That was a very bitter divorce, and you’re talking about somebody who is still, probably, very bitter.”

The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved. Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events.
We will not say anything negative about our father’s ex-wife. He has said before, privately and publicly, that he regrets any pain he may have caused in the past to people he loves.
ABC News or other campaigns may want to talk about the past, just days before an important primary election. But Newt is going to talk to the people of South Carolina about the future– about job creation, lower taxes, and about who can defeat Barack Obama by providing the sharpest contrast to his damaging, extreme liberalism. We are confident this is the conversation the people of South Carolina are interested in having.
Our father is running for President because of his grandchildren – so they can inherit the America he loves. To do that, President Obama must be defeated. And as the only candidate in the race, including Obama, who has actually helped balance the national budget, create jobs, reform welfare, and cut taxes and spending, Newt felt compelled to run – to serve his country and safeguard his grandchildren’s future.

I think Newt will take the high road in this matter. The ex-wife will probably come off as bitter. Then again I wonder if ABC coached Mariannne and did a whole lot of editing for maximum effect?
I think Obama is behind this, not Romney. ABC is in the tank for Romney. This is all being orchestrated by Obama.

Big opportunity for Newt to say something like, “Look at how badly ABC News wants to Re-elect Barry Obama. They will stop at nothing to destroy me personally when they can’t defeat me in the arena of ideas. They are dispicable.” All he has to do is rip ABC News a new arseportal and he’d deflect whatever it is the ex wife has to say.
He is not a natural born citizen no matter how much the opposition cries birther or racist. And the deceivers on Obama's side who quote the dicta -- not the ruling -- of ArkWongKim, should be honest for once and stop deceiving people about court opinions.

David, Peter & Paul had stellar pasts as well.
His then wife, in 1995 (while they were married) went public that would be disloyal to her husband if he ever ran for the presidency... and here we are.
Married or not, she would be looking to destroy his candidacy.

Blatant attempt to go after that Evangelical vote in South Carolina because Newt Gingrich is about to hand Romney a stunning defeat!
Gotta split that vote again, to sink Gingrich on an old issue, with a new interview from the angry, barren, bitter second wife.

He was mine, too, CB. I have a suspicion that the Dems dug up dirt (paid for the dirt whether true or not) and the GOP just sat back and let the mud sling.....or Romney (Rove) did the “big dirty”. Same with Newt.
