I had to chuckle at this comment from a HotAir poster:

Newt is like the ex-boyfriend you’re sooooo glad you got rid of, but every once in a while, he shows up with flowers, says just the right things, and makes you wonder why you every broke up in the first place.

Then he opens his mouth again and you remember why.

i learned something new about newt last night

his ‘solution’ to social security is to offer a ‘privatized’ option

if you opt to go that route and your investments turn out well, you win

if you opt to go that route and you lose all the money, you will still be paid ‘benefits’ from social security

the taxpayers win if you win - the taxpayers lose if you lose - sounds like he wants us taxpayers to take all the risk out of gambling with retirement investments

he must have learned that government backing thing at fannie and freddie
