I know a lot of people like Santorum. I do too...most of the time. but tonight, not so much. He keeps decrying romney’s ads against him, and talking about how he beat Newt in Iowa. But the only reason he beat Newt in Iowa was because of romney’s hit ads against him...and then Rick never said mumblin’ word about it. But he was sure quick to jump Newt for the bain thing. That just bothers me.
Newt got Tim La Haye’s endorsement; its all over for Santorum among evangelical Christians now.
Well, knock me over with a feather—Dick Morris said Gingrich won the debate and may well win on Saturday!
He said that people would pay to watch him debate Obama!
Hannity furiously spinning for Romney. Morris isn’t agreeing with Hannity!
This is true. Newt has taken on the moderate establishment and liberalism and won big. When he speaks, his words carry weight. The liberals used the term ‘gravitas’ in 2000 to describe what they said was W’s lack of weight of accomplishment or intellect. They conveniently purged that term Soviet-style in 2008 when a certain Messianic figure arrived on the scene and the liberals found that term inconvenient when extolling the virtues of the Messiah figure.
But it really does describe the problem Santorum and frankly Romney has when compared to Newt. This really comes through when you see them in these debate settings. This new thing Santorum has with calling Newt ‘congressman’ instead of ‘Speaker’ Gingrich is petty and does nothing to raise Santorum’s relative position. Even if Newt doesn’t survive this primary, Santorum cannot fight off Romney, much less Obama. He just doesn’t have ‘gravitas’.
