If Santorum believes he elevates himself by reducing Gingrich in this way, it will not help him. Santorum suffers from the fact that he was just another senator, not a leader of anything substantial. Santorum lacks the ‘gravitas’ needed to be elevated to the nomination at such a critical time as this. Newt Gingrich is the senior candidate and it is very obvious.
