Is it just me, or didn’t RCP used to use a lot more LV samples in their national averages…? I could’ve sworn they did.

Oh puhleeze - the media has been no help to Santorum. His numbers are incredibly high considering he doesn't have the millions the other candidates have had. He's the logical choice.

Sorry - as much as I admire Newt's intellect, he admires it more. He's an undisclpined hot head with an ego that isn't appealing.

So now, it looks like we have an awful nominee that is infintely better than ZERO.

No, he is not infinetly better than Obama, he is only marginally better than Obama and just like he did in Massachusetts to the State GOP with his compromising on all conservative positions, he'll destroy the national GOP if elected.

“Santorum never led Romney nationally or anywhere, while Gingrich has shown the ability to utterly destroy Romney in the polls.”

Uh maybe a month ago. But then he wasn’t able to get on the ballot in VA and his vote collapsed.

Things change in politics, time to back Santorum because Newt has lost it.

“It’s Santorum that should of dropped out along with Bachmann after Iowa.”

Last I checked Santorum won Iowa. By this logic, Newt should have dropped out and endorsed Santorum.

“But the media hyped Mr 1% in the week prior to Iowa to hand it to Romney.”

That didn’t work too well, did it? Santorum won in Iowa, proving that we don’t need Newt.

“frothy media induced surge will last just long enough to hand South Carolina to Romney too.”

Newt did that all to himself. If Newt had simply held onto his polling numbers from December, he’d be the nominee. But alas, he fell apart and conservatives went with somebody else.

“Gingrich has a chance of stopping Romney at this point.”

No - he doesn’t. Look, TXFreeper. Newt’s done. He can’t catch Romney at this point, and has been done for over a month.

Sarah Palin stringed us around for so long that other true and tested conservatives stayed out of the race. Deny all you want, this is now the reality.

No, that is just your opinion distorted by your PDS.

Given that he won Iowa - Newt is playing the spoiler role.

Newt has yet to top 12 percent in any primary, anywhere. Right now, it’s looking unlikely that he’ll beat Paul in SC, and finally climb out of fourth place.

Not sure. I know they use LV samples in the state primaries more. Maybe it's too far out at this time to use LV in a national poll.

The conservatives could mount a serious challenge of Romney if they’d just friggin’ coalesce behind one single (Santorum/Gingrich/Perry) candidate already!

Conservatives did coalesce around Newt four weeks back. Newt had a huge lead over Mitt.

Then the propaganda and the media spooked some and now we have a split.

Isn't this great./

Ah Ben.

Santorum isn't on the VA ballot either.

Back then, nobody expected it. :)

He was still at 1 percent in the polls.

Newt was the frontrunner. Perception is important - since he failed to get on the ballot, he’s been shedding support.

Propaganda is to blame!

If only Mitt didn’t fight dirty - Newt could be president. /sarc.

How many times have I heard this excuse? Politics is war, FreeReign. Politics is War.

If Newt couldn’t stand up to scrutiny, then it’s a good thing we found out now.

So now, it looks like we have an awful nominee that is infintely better than ZERO. YUCK!!! So that means we have a choice between mananged decline with mittens versus a chaotic, unpredictable implosion with zero.

I'm not a Romney fan but I will vote for him if it comes down to him vs. our Dear Leader. While I don't know know what kind of President Romney would actually be (lots of conjecture, but still unknown), our biggest hope is three-fold: get rid of Obama, keep the House and gain a majority in the Senate. While I prefer a leader who knows who and what he is, with conservative control of the two houses we can point Romney in the right direction.

No, this isn't the ideal situation, but at this point my main concern is making our Dear Leader a one-term President.

I see they have 14 days (from the 5th) to report. So the 19th is when we will finally see the Iowa numbers.

Should be interesting to see those final numbers. If it comes out before 1/21 then, and it turns out Santorum won Iowa, it might be a good, late boost for the SC primary.
