Rush Limbaugh broadcasts on Clear Channel. Clear Channel is owned by Mitt Romney
Examiner ^ | January 12, 2012 | Angel Clark

Did you know that many of the talk radio hosts that you listen to on a regular basis use the same company to broadcast their shows? Clear Channel boasts names like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and even Coast to Coast AM!

Michael Savage is TRN, but is on a lot of Clear Channel stations.

Clear Channel is the largest owner of radio stations in the United State [...]

Did you know that Clear Channel is owned (in large part) by Bain Capital?

On Friday, November 17, 2006, Clear Channel announced that it was going private and selling off almost one-third of its radio assets... The buyers, led by Bain Capital Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners, agreed to pay $26.7 billion for the company.

Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney. Mitt is retired now, but he still profits from Bain Capital according to the New York Times.

Clear Channel Communications is a privately owned company controlled by the private equity companies Bain Capital Partners LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP. Clear Channel was sold for $18.7 billion in cash plus the assumption of $8 billion in debt. The transaction closed on July 24, 2008. The operating company which technically owns Clear Channel is called CC Media Holdings, Inc.

Think about that the next time you're flipping channels on the radio and realize that Rush Limbaugh calls the candidates "Romney", "Non-Romney", and "Loony"...

Why do these other candidates get called "Non-Romney"?

Do you think you'll be hearing about this story in most of the media sources you frequent?

Then it's up to you to get the word out. (Especially since by sharing tips like this I help cement that I won't ever become one of those big names in talk radio)

So by that logic, if I own any shares of GE, I must be a fan and supporter of Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow.

Nope. By that logic, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow have to listen to you and would never attack or say anything bad about you. Just like Rush does to Romney... Oh, wait...

All I know to be true to myself is after 2 days of Rush going overboard about Newt, he hurt Newt. That is one thing I will never forget. Newt is not anti business. Rush helps Mitt every chance he can. Rush and Paul have been Mitt’s greatest assets.

Rush doesn’t need Clear Channel. Clear Channel needs him.

I really wish more Freepers understood some of the basics of business. Some of the horse manure I’ve read here lately has bummed me out.

Hmm. Interesting factoid.

We'll have to see who Rush will be pimping for come August. I recall distinctly his change of heart on Bush after being an overnight guest at the WH. But that was when he only made enough each year to buy his own jet; now he could buy the Air Force. </sarc>

On a related note, I wonder who will complete this foursome?

Never has a flame been so decisive or so deserved that I can recall. What you posted was
A: from a left wing site
B: partly wrong in fact
C: connected dots that don’t connect
D: was tin foil looney
E: steeped in total ignorance of the talk radio industry
F: steeped in ignorance of the totality of Rush has said about Romney (which is mostly negative by a long shot)
G: etc etc etc.

Wonder if this explains why Bill Handel of KFI (Clear Channel station in L.A.) is a Romneybot.

Nah ... as a So Californian who has been afflicted with Handel for many years (I now switch to San Diego's KOGO in the mornings to avoid him), I think I can safely say that the real explanation as to why Handel is a Romneybot is that Handel is an IDIOT.

He was an idiot long before Romney was in the picture, and no doubt will be an idiot long after, God willing, Romney loses the Republican primary. :^)

And Savage who screams he's the true conservative on the radio supporting Romney and Romneycare. ROTFL. I think his jungle plants are getting to him :) Though, Very disappointed in ElRushbo. Listened to him since day 1.

Rush is having the same problem with ad sales as Glenn did. Ad space dominated by Gold dealers and ID Security insurance. He had to resort to selling tea. I really believe he just goes to FrreRepublic and Drudge and just comments on what he sees. If you don’t think he cares what Clear Channel thinks you are nuts. I remember when he had GM and other real businesses advertising with him. He likes playing lead dog but is afraid to take a clear stand.

Sorry, not true, and I think you know better.

Rush has been tougher on Romney since the beginning of the process than anyone else except Paul. He has been tougher on Paul over all. He is only tough on Newt when he thinks Newt veers left, and thats what he thinks on this thing. But he is most definitley NOT in the tank for Mitt and to say otherwise is simply showing a lack of understanding or an out and out falsehood.

Thank you for your reasoned response. Rush actually defended Bain, more than Romney. Rush was so concerned about defending Bain, that he harmed Gingrich in the process, perhaps fatally. Even if the Gringrich’s attacks were not entirely fair, why is that suddenly more important than electing the most conservate candidate?

Bain took Clear Channel private in 2008 so they probably have enough of the stock for controlling leverage.

It’s my understanding Romney left Bain in 1999? Correct?

why is that suddenly more important than electing the most conservate candidate?

Because unlike some folks, Rush is more about ideas than being obsessed with people, including candidates. Always has been. Always will be. I realize that a lot of folks on message boards have no ideas and only come with a positive or negative obsession about a certain candidate. That's not Rush' world. Never ever has been.

I can't believe we're at 120 comments and this is the first tin foil hat alert.

Paulbots believe that -- no matter what happens -- if Ron does not win the nomination, it is PROOF of a conspiracy.
