Right or wrong concerning Santorum’s views on slashing benefits for people already on social security will be a losing battle for Santorum. This alone will give the nomination to Obama

The big question is who will come in third place.

It is a BS argument used on here frequently.Remember that supposedly Bachmann was in the tank for Romney.Who ever is not Palin or Gingrich is in the tank for Romney...it is a silly childish argument that says my _________ candidate or no one.(They may as well write in Romney/Obama’s names.)

Rationalize anything? So; he figured out the 'global warming' scam - and better late than never.. .Have you heard Perry on this? Mitt?

As for his failed marriages; unless, you can walk in his shoes; no reason to go there. Our Country is too desperate for Leadership; for this.

We know Newt can lead; and that he can debate; and hold his own with world Leadership. We know his vision for America.

Good Grief; Reagan was not perfect; nor a saint; nor Bush, for that matter; why does any Repub imagine we must have a Saint? Certainly, NONE exists per running for 'this' job. Nor, should we want one, for that matter.

Right or wrong concerning Santorum’s views on slashing benefits for people already on social security will be a losing battle for Santorum.

Thirty percent of people collecting benefits are well below retirement age. I would support anyone eliminating their 'benefits' altogether. Santorum has the courage to tell the truth while the other candidates via political expediency remain part of the problem.

Pennsylvania did not want “right to work” when Santorum was in congress so he represented his constituents like what he was elected for. Also as a constitutional conservative he didn't want the feds to shove down the throats of the states even something as worthwhile as “right to work.” Fidelity to the 10th Amendment is a GOOD thing.
But Rick is a "right to work" presidential candidate--and as president he would have the power to push “right to work” in the federal work force and busting the fed union mafia will save billions of taxpayer bucks.

I ask this respectfully, though it will come off as hostile:

Does it bother you at all that the net result of your vote on Saturday will likely be to hand Romney every single delegate in SC, and effectively end the entire primary process three weeks into January?

Because I can tell you: I run the Newt ping list and started it way back when. If the polls in my state read as they do in SC, but with Santorum and Romney in a two-man race instead of Gingrich and Romney, I would be voting for Rick Santorum to stop Romney. I think most Newt backers would, since stopping Romney seems to be the one unifying issue for all of us.

Why is it Santrorum voters are perfectly content to voting for the guy who is way behind Romney instead of strategically voting for the guy who is statistically tied with Romney? I asked this same question in 2008, when Huckabee tried riding a strong Iowa finish through an entire national primary process.

Are you really going to vote for Rick Santorum on Saturday if the polls show that Gingrich has the only real chance of denying Romney every single SC delegate? Are you really prepared to turn SC effectively blue in the GOP Primaries, and make it once again the state that hands a RINO nomination, just cause, doggone it, you just like Rick Santorum better?

I respectfully ask that you reconsider. There is no “strong finish” in SC. Winner takes ALL; second place is MEANINGLESS.

You also have to consider that aside from the process being over if Romney wins SC, a lot of us are not going to forgive Rick Santorum and his supporters and come rallying behind him if he continues being 2012’s Mike Huckabee. Giving Romney SC and effectively the nomination is not something people like myself are going to reward.

livius !!

Three cheers for bringing up Santorum’s HORRIBLE social security plan.

This is a disaster. Once people learn about it he will be unelectable.

Trust me on this, as Rush says.

The cane and walker crowd may hobble to the polls but they will get there and vote against him.

I need to hear more about this. It isn’t out there enough.

I wish Perry would bring it up. He and Paul Ryan have a sensible, workable plan that wouldn’t punish the elderly.

I see a lot of young people on here absolutely livid about people on social security. My dearest hope for them is that their elderly parents move in with them.

Speaking of getting out, I’m wondering about Ron Paul.

I don’t wish him ill, but he’s old and he looks horrible.

He’s suddenly gone back to Texas and no one knows why.

If he should drop out for health reasons, I wonder who would get his votes. He has a lot of them right now.

“Santorum and Gingrich Scramble for the Conservative Vote”

And neither have the organization nor the resources to see it through. It’s a two horse race between mitt romney and Ron Paul. It’ll be interesting to see how long they each stay in and continue to split the traditional conservative vote.

I'm just following the Buckley rule by voting for the most conservative candidate who can win and without a speck of doubt nor a dinky mote of apprehension that vote is going to Rick Santorum.

We disagree but that's politics and politics is combat confusion in our state and the only accurate polls here are exit polls—and even those can't be trusted every time.

Like I said, right or wrong....this will become a BIG issue and a losing one for Santorum if he wins the primary. He may win votes on this against Romney but surely will lose to Obama.

So; he figured out the ‘global warming’ scam - and better late than never.. .Have you heard Perry on this?*******

Yeah, no elected official in America has ridiculed AGW more than Rick Perry. Going back to at least 2008 he’s referred to it in speeches as nothing more than hype, hot air and a big phony mess. He also accused Gore’s mouth of being the primary source of global warming 4 years ago for his constant preaching on the issue.

Perry is far and away the most solid of any candidate on this issue. He takes a sledgehammer to the issue.

Or what?

People who know something about the subject and who are capable of a reasonable discussion have varying views about the Road.

Nothing would ever be built without eminent domain. It doesn’t take that much land and the owners are well compensated. The TTH was a bright idea and showed Rick Perry’s thinking outside the box as they say.

Perry took chances when he believed in something. He’s taken chances with a couple of stances in this race, as when he wouldn’t support corn gasoline in Iowa just to get votes. Santorum did.

He knows he’s taken an unpopular stance on the troops also, but it’s what he believes. He doesn’t trust Iran and he doesn’t think our troops should have given years of their lives only to be pulled out as a political ploy.

“We also tend to aggravate the problem by driving off people who could be and should be potential political allies. Not brothers, not comrades, but allies. I am speaking here of libertarians.”

You’re 100% right. But your call for sanity is going to fall on deaf ears. And the sad irony is that the folks who will end up marginalized as a result will not be the libertarians but the traditional conservatives.

Santorum should endorse Rick Perry and go back to PA.

Oh, wait, they kicked him out. Oh, well.

Santorum is dividing the conservative vote and he doesn’t have a chance. Let it be between two decent candidates—Gingrich and Perry and let’s see what happens.
