The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

Seems like my Congressman (West) is more "liberal" than many on this forum, who think that there should be no punishment at all for these Marines.

Part of what makes our military better than others is the fact that such incidents (the abuse of dead enemy combatants) are rare, as they should be. And, IMHO, these incidents should neither be gleefully celebrated nor hysterically condemned.

War is hell.

So you don't think apologising to the families; is punishment enough along with with Official' reprimands'?

Would offer the already 'hysterical' demands for 'redress' by conscience-striken Liberals - and Islamists - is another punishment - that none of them deserves, in truth. Allowing, of course; that Liberals and Islamists; do not have the 'normal' conscience that we are giving name to. Theirs is a pained conscience (of convenience); supposedly claimed, on behalf of these Marines; and one, that otherwise; is never called into 'personal use'.
