It amazes me that Newt can lay out concepts like this (as well as his public defense of Christianity) and all his detractors can do is look for petty "is he positive" or "sitting with Nancy Pelosi, blah, blah, blah." NO ONE, and I repeat NO ONE talks like this! These are simple yet profound concepts that he articulates with amazing clarity. He's teaching us about our country because we've forgotten. Newt is not the Messiah, he is not perfect. Remember, that guy is already President! Newt is a flawed human being who is very smart and who completely understands this moment in history. And I would argue he is the only one who can articulate it to the American people. He is proclaiming truth and we need to allow him to bring that debate to ALL of America! We don't need a RINO and we don't need a Rookie. We need a man who can restore the concept of a FREE AMERICA! I like both Rick's and I believe they can both be great participants in this process, but this speech (and virtually all Newt's speeches) set him apart as the prime articulator of the American idea.
God's speed Newt!
Yes, that 33 minutes should be required listening for anyone voting in this primary, or the general election, for that matter!
You have nailed it. Newt has never forgotten the faith of our founders. You saw it in his book,
To Renew America, which I recommend everyone read. He knows the true spirit of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He is part of that fabric that embodies a free people.
I leave you with excerpts from his book:
"I want to encourage you to be a little anxious, and then I want to encourage you to turn that anxiety into engergy. We will create a better future and renew America only if enough people decide that there is a problem and that we can do something about it . . . "
". . . I am not suggesting that each of us needs to be heroic in the tradition of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, or Roosevelt. Quite the opposite. I believe the heroism we need today is the quiet steady work of millions--parents, teachers, volunteers, cab drivers, government officials, individual citizens--each making his or her own contribution with his or her own talents . . ."
". . . Since each American is uniquely endowed by the Creator with inalienable rights, there is not and cannot be a single American dream. There are 260,000,000 American dreamers. Because we have been so empowered by our dreams and our right to pursue our dreams, we have become a great country filled with good people."
