The last time I was seriously involved in a nomination battle was 1968 (I was playing for the other team then).
At that time, it was not possible to be the "winner" with 37% of the votes in a primary.
When RFK walked to his rendezvous with jihad on June 5, the matter was still very much undecided - because none of the 3 major candidates had a majority of the delegates, and THAT was because no one had consistently won >50% of the votes.
This Romney problem is a RULES problem. Romney is not "winning" ANYTHING, if by "winning" you mean getting more than half the voters.
This ridiculous situation has been created by the RNC and the State committees, and, if there is a GOP left after the consequences of a Romney nomination become clear (I think there will not be), then the rules should be changed.
“...if there is a GOP left after the consequences of a Romney nomination become clear (I think there will not be)...”
I agree. Very few do. Nevertheless, I think this will be their bridge to far. The GOP corpse will fall on top of the brittle bones of the Whigs.
