i believe that would be called *compromise*...a system which ALWAYS works to our disadvantage on an unleveled battlefield we currently call politics...
Alternatively the ‘taking a stand’ and then ‘caving in’ approach (first used by Newt in 1995) doesn't seem to help Republicans much against Obama either. When Pelosi did it in 2007 and 2008 she had a method of being able to have Bush get the blame for everything so she could pick up more House seats, but when the current House Republicans do it it just seems to make obama look stronger, at least recently.
