I still have the impression that she thought that statement would sound good to conservative Republican primary voters to win the primary as at the time Obama and Republicans were arguing about extending those benefits beyond the 99 weeks and similar arguments were being used.

That definitely would sound better to some on the right than the general voter ranks (that is why talk show hosts don't usually run for office--if they do so successfully, they sing a different song).

The remark about how the crowd looked asian likely popped into her head. But the one about lazy voters was not prudent either, for a politician in a state with extremely high unemployment. In fact, "not prudent" is a very mild description; "Suicidal" is probably more accurate. Look at my new tagline.
