... Under Romney's leadership Bain bought majority control of World Wide Grinding Systems in 1993. It put up $8 million of the $75 million purchase price and borrowed $125 million by issuing bonds. Bain immediately sent investors $36 million in dividend checks...
A steel business is capital-intensive and sensitive to economic conditions. That's why it needs to conserve money for the lean years. When the economy did go south, so did GS Technologies. GS Technologies went bankrupt in 2001, the plant closed and 750 workers lost their jobs.
Bain skipped out on a previous agreement to provide severance pay and health benefits coverage if that happened. The workers saw their pensions slashed by up to $400/month. But Bain walked away from the smoking ruins $12 million richer, not including $4.5 million in consulting fees.
And it had tapped government as well. The company had extracted $3 million in tax savings from Kansas City... The Federal Pension Benefits Guarantee Corp bailed out the company's underfunded pension plan to the tune of $44 million [taxpayer-funded]

Josh Kosman wrote the book http://www.amazon.com/Buyout-America-Private-Equity-Credit/dp/1591842859/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256067473&sr=8-1 on these so called private equity firms. The story goes that David Axelrod has read it and will use it against Romney
You unquestioningly accept Harrop's description of events, motivations and outcomes, huh?
Then, you must view them thru the same prism she does, sharing her views, huh?
You trust this messenger? Isn't that kind of, well, "stupid"?
Good evening.
Ms. Harrop, so far I have not seen an article by you attacking Obama for his paying back political backers through government backed loans to failed Solyndra Corp. http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2011/10/03/solyndra-bankruptcy/
What is more they knew before the company was even started that it had a failed business model because the Chinese were already producing better cheaper solar cell with different technology. http://blog.heritage.org/2011/11/22/labor-department-may-sink-another-14-million-into-solyndra/
How about your comments on Nancy Pelosi who has taken over Military Bases in San Francisco and arraigned to have them sold to companies owned by relatives. Treasure Island was a Navy Base that was sold to San Francisco then to a Florida company run by her nephew. Funny thing the bidding process was so strict that only one company met all requirements, the one run by her nephew. Nancy also got her hands on two other retired military bases, and even gave some land to Mikhail Gorbachev environmental propaganda organization.

So unless you attack Liberal, Democrats, and Marxist Presidents with same vigor you go after Conservatives, Republicans, and the Tea Party; you are nothing more than a propagandist and a liberal hack that has really no standards. I really think that Vladimir Lenin would see you as a useful idiot.
My oh my. Looks like someone didn't get a pony as a kid.
1) A Government Bailout isn't capitalism in any form - period.Have a nice day.2) Lobbyists don't 'game' anything. The Tax Code is the Tax Code. It's Leftist to cry about non existent 'loopholes'. To them a 'loophole' is anything not Taxed, Regulated or Banned. ('Gun Show Loophole' anyone?)
3) Monopolies are good, they built America. Like the Railroads, Oil production, Electricity and oh yeah, the Telephone Company. It was the progressive Teddy Roosevelt who 1st went against those eviiiiil 'Robber Barons'. And some other Progressive asshat that 'busted up' the telephone company.
4) Crony Capitalism is also GOOD. If it's the Free Market and individuals - aka: People, Companies, and/or Corporation doing it. NOT the government picking 'who gets hired'. The term 'Crony Capitalism' is another leftist canard used to rile up 'the proletariat' against 'the man'.
Furthermore I practice 'Crony Capitalism' all the time. And HAVE been part of it for 40 years. It's called The Private Sector. And in it we're free to use any contact we have to: get in on a Contract Bid, hire someone who is competent, find a job, or find new customer. A Union Worker just goes to 'the Hall' to see who may be hiring or he'll drop a dime to a friend. Nothing wrong with that, it's all legal too.
The only thing making my blood boil is that a Freeper is pimping a hit piece from a person who labeled TEA Party patriots as 'terrorists'. Check out this video from the Daily Show.
