Paul, speaking Thursday morning in Louisville, said he's "seen the chatter on the Internet" about the possibility of being tapped as the GOP nominee's running mate. But he said for now he is focused on helping U.S. Rep. Ron Paul's campaign for the GOP nomination.

"I haven't really considered it yet," Rand Paul said. "I'm focused on trying to help my dad."

The Republican from Bowling Green made his comments Thursday morning at the St. Matthews Community Center in Louisville after saying his office would give $500,000 in office funds back to the U.S. Treasury.

Romney/Paul 2012 solves many problems for Romney. It gets the TEA Party to the polls in November enthusiastically, and it keeps Daddy on the sidelines rather than running a third party bid just to name two.

But Rand Paul isn’t Allen West. :)

Speaking of Allen West, anyone know who he has endorsed? You know, Floriduh Primary is getting awfully close, and they are already voting down there absentee!

I don’t believe he would be asked. And he is endorsing a wacky character. I think this should knock all talk of a Presidential race out the window. He is done. People give Santorum a hard time for his endorsement of Arlen. Raul should get the same treatment. He was standing behind a crazy guy in Iowa clapping and yucking it up. No to Paul forever.

I think this is a fantastic idea! WE MUST DEFEAT OBAMA this year. Rand could keep an eye on Romney, and have the inside track to White House in the future. Then we can audit the Fed and rollback spending.

I’m sure Rand Paul was putting it mildly and fully realizes that there’s zero chance he’ll be offered the v.p. slot.

This. And Rand will run for President in 2016, as a foil for Mitten's re-election bid. If there's been a global black swan event between here and there, who knows...

Neither Ron nor Rand Paul will ever be president or even the Republican nominee for president or v.p. The crony capitalist donor base will not allow it, and even in the event of an economic or other cataclysm that virtually ensures the election of a Republican, they will be able to select a Republican acceptable to them.

Mind you, I say this as someone rather sympathetic to the Pauls, although—depending on the issue—they sometimes go too far off into the libertarian wilds for me, the father Paul in particular.
