Don't forget sports. College football has been dominated by the SEC since 2006, plus you have other Southern teams who are pretty darn good. And in college hoops you have perennial powerhouses like Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, Florida, and many others.

Other areas of the country have one or two good teams, but the South seems to have an abundance of talent.

Add in NASCAR, whiskey and bourbon, and race horses. The South is almost always the first thing you think of whenever someone mentions one of these things.
