It took Reagan well over a generation to become the president, and in order to get there, he was one of the leaders of the conservative movement.
I think we may just be too impatient, and like little children, expect instant gratification. Perhaps the success of Tea Party (which may be the re-brith of conservatism), the success that was so huge and came so quickly really doomed us.
Just read the Free Republic. People throwing temper tantrums left and right, because they want their lollipop NOW, and they definitely don't want to eat their broccoli.
I don't know who you would have liked to run who is not running. I like Sarah, but she may be taking a longer view, realizing she is not ready. Or some of the Class of 2010 Tea Party candidates. Or Jim DeMint, who I greatly admire.
Most senators have little or nothing to show for their career. Jim DeMint is one of the fathers of the Tea Party, and he managed to save an entire country (Honduras) from a communist dictatorship, despite the efforts of Obama administration (plus the resto of the commies of the western hemisphere: Castro, Chavez, Lula of Brazil) to make it a communist dictatorship... Yet, some freepers are ready to throw DeMint under the bus...
Such reasoned thought - best to simply call DeMint a communist, socialist, leftie, traitor, scumdoucheturd, or the like. You’ll blend in better here. Zot DeMint! He needs primaried! Down with the RINO heretics!

We don’t have the time to expect anything but instant gratification. This country is broke...the GDP is on par with the debt. We are paying out as much as we take in, and that is going to get worse every single month.
I know what you mean about the temper tantrums on FR. I’ve been seeing them for a while now.
