Tebow's most amazing trait? Humility

Sportswriters and ballplayers have nothing in common so much as an urge to utter four favorite words:

I told you so.

It’s become the coin of the realm in this business. Nothing inspires such opportunistic passion as a chance to hate the doubters and doubt the haters.

SNIP

What happened Sunday night was more than an upset. It was more than a thrilling playoff win for the Broncos. It was an epic rebuke to Tebow’s legions of doubters. Call it Tebow 3:16...

Tebow came out for the postgame presser in a knit cap and a vest, jeans and sneakers. He offered praise to God (which, for some reason, doesn’t bug me so much when he does it). He spoke of how privileged he was to spend time before the game with Bailey Knaub, a 16-year-old who has endured 73 surgeries battling Wegener's granulomatosis, a rare disease that attacks vital organs. And he credited his teammates...“who make me look a lot better than I really am.”

SNIP

I can’t think of an athlete, who has been judged by such bipolar standards. Tebow began the season as a bum. Then he became a savior (not just the garden-variety redeemer of a franchise, but spoken of as a true messianic figure). Then he became a bum again. By Sunday morning, ESPN’s various broadcasters were pontificating on his crushed confidence and predicting his replacement by Brady Quinn, who is not only a proven failure as an NFL quarterback but hadn’t thrown a pass all season.

SNIP

With the safeties blitzing, there was nothing between Thomas and the end zone. An 80-yard touchdown ended the overtime just as it began 11 seconds earlier. The stadium erupted in a way I have never seen, not at a football game...

My esteem for TT just grows higher and higher. A true gentleman, sportsman, and Christian. What's not to love about him?

Officially, Tebow passed for 316 yards against the Steelers, completing 10 of 21 pass attempts — meaning he passed for 31.6 yards per completion. Any doubt as to Tebow's lucky number?
I think God was having fun last night!

In your face Bill Maher :)

Like some of our political heroes, I worry sometimes that he’s too perfect - that there’s going to be some personal flaw that will surface (see Sarah Palin or Herman Cain) that will disappoint us and cause us to lose hope.

Sarah Palin has a personal flaw????

Good luck against the Pats next week. If TT pulls that one off, well, I don't know what to say.

TT: Tim Tebow, not Tom Terrific aka Mr Gisele Bundchen....

They’re so full of hate and so void of any belief system.

Jock-sniffers caught up in their worship of animal torturers and assorted common criminals.

There has been lots of talk about Steelers injuries, but almost no one points out that the Broncos were missing a starting guard and cornerback, and their best linebacker was playing one-handed.

To his credit, Mike Tomlin wanted no part of that as an excuse.

I know he had issues in the past, but I gained a lot of respect yesterday for Big Ben as well, he had to be playing through some great pain....and it appears that he has turned his life around.

I haven’t screamed at the TV so much since Lenny Dawson won a bowl game in a triple overtime back in the day. And to make Sunday sweeter, Tim Tebow is/was a Gator.

I rooted for the Broncos this year much more than I rooted for the Gators.

And it’s appropriate Tebow will always wear Orange and Blue, because God made the sky blue and the sun orange.

A little of both. Just refreshing to see reports not discussing the tabloid troubles of the athletes, but a humble role model.

In addition to John 3:16, how about Deuteronomy 31:6? It would seem appropriate considering the attacks he's endured.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Don’t forget wide receiver Eric Decker was knocked out of the game early with a cheap shot tackle at his knee.
