In the first link the discussion appears to be regarding McCain and his birth overseas.

In the second link, the discussion appears to also be in regards to overseas birth.

I don't agree with BladeBryan's assertion that no one one at all mentioned this on FR back then. I recall, but cannot find a substantiating link, that at least one person brought the 2-parent with domestic birth thing up. I also have a hazy memory of reading an article on the concept in early 2008, but again I cannot back this up.

But, the record stands that in spite of BHO’s parentage being well known since 2004 when he was first touted as a possible candidate, this 2-parent things wasn't a big issue before the election. It was all about the birth certificate because Birthers had themselves convinced that BHO was born overseas.

Again, the "not born here" argument is far easier for the public to understand than the "doesn't have foreign allegiances" argument. Since Obama wouldn't show a real birth certificate, everyone assumed he couldn't. People also didn't understand why he wasn't being COMPELLED to show it. There were several factors at work regarding the focus on the birth certificate. The most salient aspect of which was that not being born here was something the public could easily understand and was an absolute knock it out of the park disqualifier.

People do what is easiest.

Back before he was elected I do recall the 2 parent citizenship being discussed. There were many of us that said it really didn’t matter if he was or wasn’t born in Hawaii since his father never was a citizen.

Everyone pointed to the fact that on Factcheck.org it was specifically stated that he was born a british subject. Now how can you be born a british subject, but also be a natural born citizen. It can’t happen.

This fact is not recent and dates back to before BO was elected! Just thought I would clarify this for you! I was one of them....
