Her father, who died in 1996, was a pioneering black attorney who, starting in the late 1930s, rigorously fought to end discriminatory laws.

He won crucial cases involving voting rights, pay equality for railroad workers and, most famously, the Lucy v. Adams U.S. Supreme Court case that forced the University of Alabama to integrate its student body.

Lee knew what her father was doing was right, but she always felt different. She was a black girl being raised in a difficult, emotionally charged environment. The department store where her mother, Theodora, shopped had separate drinking fountains. The city’s street cars had a separate area — in the back — for blacks. Lee recalls having to enter the neighborhood drug store through the basement. Whites entered through the front door.

She felt different, too, because, being Shores’ daughter, she could not walk to school. There were constant death threats, she told members of the Palm Beach County Bar Association today as part of its annual Law Day Luncheon, held at the West Palm Beach Marriott.

“We had to change our phone number every couple of days,” she said.

It only gets worse.... Obama could shit in his pants and she would volunteer to wipe him clean.

As others have pointed out over the years, the things she experienced were brought about by - DEMOCRATS. A person with reasoning ability would see that it was a party which did great harm to blacks, and they would have nothing to do with it. Instead, blacks still vote Democrat in overwhelming numbers. It’s senseless.
