I could be wrong, but I think the prototype Kwame was Kwame Nkrumah, the original president of Ghana(formerly the Gold Coast after it became independent from Britain in 1957 or 58. We learned this wonderful stuff in the Junior Scholastic and World Week in junior high along with how the United Nations was going to solve all the problems of the world. Nkrumah went on to become a strongman dictator of course, and played the West against the Russians. Then I lost track.

All this crap because black families have lost the drive to teach their kids to succeed. It didn’t used to be this way.

“Hell, why not pass a law forcing them to take out a loan to pay for the college education.”

Patience, FRiend. I have no doubt that they will get around to doing that eventually. But for right now, forcing kids to apply to college (along with paying the application fee) is the probably the gubmint’s first step in making that happen.

FWIW, I applied to 3 different colleges in 1982 and paid approximately $100 per application. I imagine the application fees have probably doubled since then.

Sounds to me like another stealth tax.

Possibly a semester course in accurately and completely filling out job applications.... well maybe not ... if the Food Stamp President will give them subsistence living with free cable thrown in, why would they want to work?

Is this the beginnings of going beyond zer0care, to force Americans into commerce that they do not want?

Bingo! If the SCOTUS rules ObamaCare can force you to buy health insurance, the Government can force you to do anything.

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Think about it: if everyone had a college degree, they’d be damn near worthless. Virtually everyone has a HS diploma - what are those worth?

Those and sexual deviance, fear of guns, and of course memorizing all the scandals that any Republican has ever become embroiled in. Those are key - so key they sort of crowd out reading, writing, and arithmetic.

“”to teach teenagers how to apply for aid and admission.””

By golly - then they’ll be ready to take on the world. Did this nincompoop ever get through any kind of school?

Good point. IIRC, applications tend to be around $50 each. Whole point is to make sure there is genuine interest to not waste resources in the evaluation process. I say take all federal money out of education except as research funding (pay for work - hopefully useful.) All the easy credit has inflated cost and let too many students in that are incapable of doing the work - resulting in degree inflation. When I started work in our lab in 1982, BS Chemists were hired as professionals, now they are hired as technicians.

This won’t help. If they won’t do the work they won’t pass. Period. There comes a point where nobody can do anything for the student, the student must do the work alone. No will to work means failure, and the Left does not realize this.

The likely intended result will be establishing an elevated level of minority applicants being turned down for admission to university.

Washington DC’s HIV rate is higher than West Africa’s and they want to send these imbeciles to college? 50 years of ‘Head Start’ didn’t work... Neither will this.

The high school diploma in the ghetto is a condom, and these dumb feral jackals do not have the sense to learn that lesson... They are hopeless.

Bingo! You've nailed it.

If they can complete a college application successfully, then they can apply for Section 8 housing and public assistance. These are critical skills in the DC area.
