Great point - theyll simply wait until he has it locked up (which hopefully wont happen), and THEN theyll vet him...just as they did with McCain (not that he needed it).
I believe 100% that the MSM wants Romney to get the nomination because of his baggage. They would interview every person they could find that worked at a company that was bought and gutted by Bain, they would interview Romney's relatives in Mexico, they would look at the lack of military service in the Romney family, they would look at his dad, they would look at his religion, they would make sure everybody knows who Warren Jeffs is and try and make the association with Mormons, etc. etc.
And while Romney would discourage many of us from voting for him, he would do wonders for Obama's base.

That is 100% true.

In fairness to the Romney family, Mitt's father, George. was born in 1907 and was thus beyond the draft age not long after Pearl Harbor. George's father, Gaskell Romney, was born in Mexico in 1871 and emigrated to the U.S. in 1912. Gaskell would have been ineligible for the World War I draft. As for the rest, Santorum was born in 1958 and came of age after abolition of the draft. Perry and Paul served in the military; the remainder, Mitt Romney included, successfully obtained deferments.
