Santorum is smart, probably smarter than Gingrich, but not as bombastic.

Lol, what an entirely bogus claim.

"Santorum is smart, probably smarter than Gingrich, but not as bombastic."

And not nearly as articulate.

I guess we’d have to figure out how to measure “smart”, and how closely that might might with “intelligent”.

His education seems superior to Gingrich.

“Santorum earned a B.A. in political science from Pennsylvania State University in 1980 and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981. In 1986, Santorum received a Juris Doctorate degree from the Dickinson School of Law, was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar, and began practicing in Pittsburgh at the law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, now known as K&L Gates”.

Gingrich received a B.A. in history from Emory University in Atlanta in 1965, an M.A. in 1968, and a Ph.D. in modern European history from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1971.

Sorry, but a law degree trumps a PhD in “history”, even an esoteric history. But it is easy to see how someone who got a PhD in history would THINK they were the smartest guy in the room. And he did turn that history degree into a lifetime political career. We don’t normally think of people who go to school to get into politics as “smart”, but I guess you could be.

Does Gingrich have “street smarts” maybe? Well, he let himself get played pretty good by Clinton, time and again. He was “too smart by half” in his ethical dealings, getting himself punished when by all rights he did nothing actually WRONG. It takes a special kind of “smart” to have to pay $300,000 for innocence.

But he sure “wised up” after that? When he resigned his office? When he decided it was a good idea to sit on a couch with Pelosi? When he agreed with John Kerry in a global warming debate?

Gingrich is a smart man. And we all know it, because he tells us constantly, and won’t let us forget it. Santorum is also a smart man, a trained legal mind, but I guess he just doesn’t beat you over the head with it enough.

Now, if you just mean fact-storage, it could well be that Gingrich has more stuff crammed into his head. After all, he hasn’t really had to work a day in his life, at least not since he quit his job and started collecting that nice pension. Well, he did make a company, but apparently he doesn’t work much there, making $1.6 million for his firm while only working an hour a month. OK, I guess it takes some smarts to turn a career that ends in resignation into a multi-million dollar speaking/lecturing/consulting business.

Rick Santorum hasn’t had that much free time, what with working hard to keep his ONE MARRIAGE together, raising 7 kids, and having to support his family after he fought valiantly but lost his election.

Seriously, why do you think Rick Santorum isn’t a bright, intelligent, SMART person?
