Obama to businesses: Bring jobs home
ReutersBy Caren Bohan and Jeff Mason | Reuters 33 mins ago
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama kicked off an effort to encourage businesses to keep jobs at home instead of outsourcing them overseas, as he rolled out a new election-year theme on Saturday aimed at courting middle-class voters.
In his weekly radio and video address, Obama previewed an event he will hold next week with business executives to highlight the advantages of investing in the United States.
"We'll hear from business leaders who are bringing jobs back home and see how we can help other businesses follow their lead," Obama said.
The White House forum on "Insourcing American Jobs" will be held on Wednesday. Executives from more than a dozen companies will attend, including padlock maker Master Lock, furniture company Lincolnton Furniture, software application developer GalaxE Solutions, and chemicals company DuPont.
The emphasis on keeping U.S. jobs at home is in line with a populist economic message championed by Obama that could play well with union workers, whose support the Democratic president will need to win re-election in November.
The White House sees an increasing trend of companies deciding to "insource" jobs and invest in U.S.-based plants and factories, according to a White House official. It wants to encourage more businesses to follow that trend, the official said.

oh must be an election year because for the last 3 years, they have tried their hardest to send as many american jobs abroad as possible.
He could start by asking his buddy at GE who moved their Xray division to China after paying no federal taxes.
Yeah, c’mon back so I can rape you some more and introduce you to some of my union colleagues.
GE, your side kick friend and funder start there you fool!
Under Immelt, GE has shipped tens of thousands of good jobs out of the United States.
Well off shore manufacturers can hire/fire workers. Here business practices are coerced into Government mandated social programs catering to Americas entitled royality.
But, that's not his interest.
Disingenuous is the nice word for it. They want to use caps on carbon to ship out every energy job and most jobs depending on energy from steel on up. Then they can pretend that the US is bowing to the holy dictates of Gore when in fact we are making the alleged problem worse (overseas jobs are more carbon intensive). It is a scam many layers deep.
Psst..0, if we had a POTUS who knows about ECONOMICS you would know that our taxes are too f’ing high. Socialism is not the way to go, but you couldn’t make money selling lemonade to people crossing the dessert on the hottest day.
If anyone here thinks that message won’t resonate, they’re the naive ones. Whether it’s bs or not, it will tap into deepseated anger. It will have to be countered with a conservative option.
Nobody ever asks why the jobs left in the first place. Look at the labor costs to produce a product and all the “red tape” manufacturers have to put up with. Would ANY business person NOT see the reasons job are off-shore?
Buckwheat is a complete idiot if he thinks just by his “asking” to bring the jobs home it will happen. Perhaps he should change the rules for employers to make it easier for them to employ people.
American business pays the most taxes of any businesses, anywhere in the world.

Businesses to Obama...kill Obamacare, reduce taxes and regulations.
It’s not naivety, it’s hypocrisy.
“On January 21, 2011, President Obama announced Immelt’s appointment as chairman of his outside panel of economic advisers, succeeding former Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker.[12] The New York Times reported that Obama’s appointment of Immelt was “another strong signal that he intends to make the White House more business-friendly.”[12] Immelt will retain his post at G.E. while becoming “chairman of the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, a newly named panel that President Obama is creating by executive order.”[12] Despite this, in July 2011 Immelt’s General Electric announced that it is in the process of relocating its X-ray division from Wisconsin to China.[13][14] Immelt had previously referred to China as GE’s “second home market”.[15]
