How nice, now that they have seen what we will do when they signal that they need assistance, they can plan for an attack during it. They should have thrown them life boats, while flying war planes overhead, and steamed away.

ironic since a previous USS KIDD, but not this one was one of the 4 modified SPRUANCE destroyers (the “dead admiral” class) bought by the shah.

according to Josh Schminky, a Navy Criminal Investigative Service agent aboard the Kidd.

WWGD? (What would Gibbs do)? Remember, Gibbs was a Marine, one who usually didn't leave an enemy standing.

In all seriousness, I'm glad we did this. First we are humans, then members of a classification like a nation or religion.

It is a shame that the ship involved is the latest USS Kidd, and not DDG-993, the last one. The older Kidd Class Destroyers were heavily modified Spruance Class Destroyers, essentially Flight 1 Ticonderoga Cruisers without the Aegis system, which were ordered by the Shah of Iran. After the revolution, this class was finished and kept by the US Navy. The irony of a ship originally built for the Shah and named Kouroush (Cyrus), rescuing Iranian sailors would have been lovely.

DDG-993 is now ROCS Tso Ying (DDG-1803)
