"Restore Our Future, a super-PAC supporting Mitt Romneys presidential campaign, will run full-page ads attacking Newt Gingrich in the New Hampshire Union Leader and The State in Columbia, S.C., the most prominent newspapers in the next two primary states.
The decision to attack Gingrich is a curious one, as Rick Santorum has emerged as Romneys top rival for the GOP nomination after he virtually tied Romney on Tuesday in Iowas caucuses. Post-voting analysis shows much of Gingrichs support in that state ended up going to Santorum."
I think Romney has other ideas for Santorum. He has the money to go after all of them.
Newt needs to relax, take a deep breath, and get back on his message. I thought he was producing a proposed budget this week. I’d like to see that.
Of all the candidates, he has systematically given us a blueprint on many issues.
I’m sorry Folks, Santorum is a nice guy, but I don’t want a “nice guy” in the WH. I want a junk yard dog to represent me and all Americans.
Already there, the writing is on the wall. Newt and Paul won't quit, and the vote will remain split. Kiss Romney's ring and welcome to a 10% GOP turnout.
The worst thing about a Romney nomination is that a lot of conservatives will stay home, and we will probably lose the House and break even in the Senate.
“Gingrich supporters will soon feel like Perry supporters, or Cain supporters, or Bachmann supporters, or Palin... “
I strongly believe that you are wrong, Newt will pull this out.
But, if Romney can take out Newt, then taking out Santorum will be a cakewalk for the extremely well financed Romney wrecking crew.
However, in following your train of thought, perhaps you could look into your crystal ball and tell us how we are all going to “feel” when Romney sinks Santorum and then goes on to give Obama another 4 years.
I think you are right...I think it's over. Even Jim Rob's pep talk last night was a realization that we are looking at an Obama-Romney-Trump matchup and another four years of sharia politics.
I want a junk yard dog to represent me and all Americans.
The same Junk Yard dog that when attacked in Iowa, NEVER responded, even though he had a huge war chest to do so?
What kind of Junk Yard Dog is That?
I don't know if Santorum can beat Obama or not, but Gingrich would take such a shellacking it would be a huge embarrassment and could significantly hurt Senate and House races. Even Romney can squish Gingrich. If Gingrich would face Obama, it would be a scandal a day revealed by the MSM/thugs. At least with Santorum they will have to make up the scandals.

WASHINGTON When three-quarters of House Republicans balked Wednesday at a housing bill certain to become law, they were signaling three things at once: an ideological opposition to government involvement in the markets, a fiscal objection to writing a blank check that could cost taxpayers dearly if the condition of the mortgage finance system turns much worse and a political judgment that this was a moment to demonstrate their independence from President Bush.
Republicans said they were just sticking up for the taxpayer in opposing what they saw as a badly flawed measure that could cost Americans many billions of dollars if the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ran into more trouble. They also said a provision encouraging banks to give better rates to distressed homeowners would ultimately cause the Federal Housing Administration to pay off bad loans. And they really did not like yet another provision, making nearly $4 billion in grants available for local governments to buy up distressed properties.
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich spoke at a private party meeting before the vote and joined Mr. Boehner in encouraging Republicans to oppose the measure, rallying lawmakers who remember that it was Mr. Gingrichs ideas that prevailed in the halcyon days of the Republican revolution.
On a housing bill, most House Republicans decided in the end to align with their conservative base.

Newt was pointing out HOW CORRUPT F&F were, even in 2008, with Michelle Bachmann, no less.
Here is a transcript of Newt saying on CSPAN, how horrible Freddie and Fannie were managed and they should be dismantled...
"Governing & Political Change" held in St. Paul, Minnesota.
September 3, 2008
Bachmann: The question is on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the outrage and will it go private? or where are Fannie Mae and Feddie Mac going to go?
Gingrich: Well, I think this is one of the great tests of reform- of a populist reform conservatism. There is ZERO reasons to bail out these two institutions.
They have violated the fundamental principle of why they were created. And I did a fair amount of-... Let me be right up front... I did a fair amount of work with Freddie Mac, looking atit, consulting it, but not at a fiduciary level, but at a general public policy level.
I am appalled at the degree of management irresponsibility that both places have had, and I think they should be treated precisely like a private sector institution, And the stockholders, and the senior management should fundamentally have to bear the brunt...
I don't think you want to let them go broke, because they're enormous, and that has a BIG second and third order consequence on the system.
But I think what you want to say, is as a consequence of their survival, they should be broken up, they should go thru the equivalent of a receivership, and everybody whowas profiting from them should pay the cost of having failed.
And the general taxpayer should NOT bear that burden. and I think that could be handled totally different.
But there is ZERO reason, now that they've failed... I was perfectly happy to to not PUSH the issue, as long as they weren't failing, but NOW that they've clearly failed their fiduciary responsibility, there is zero reason for the average taxpayer to bail out these institutions.
And their senior managements have been DISGRACEFUL in the mismanagement, particularly I think, of Fannie Mae which had huge, huge, internal problems in terms of accounting, in a way you can't quite understand...
How could people run an institution THAT badly?

I agree with most of what you said, but I refuse to admit defeat so early on.
Newt isn’t done UNTIL says he is.
Newt isnt done UNTIL says he is.=Newt isnt done UNTIL Newt says he is.
it won’t matter a bit whether the scandals are made up or not, they will all have the same net effect. Santorum is weak, as a person, and a candidate. If we are going to go down, let’s go down with someone who will go down fighting, and that’s Newt...
I think you’re dead wrong.
I hope something happens to restore my hope, but I think we mortally wounded our best warrior because he was diddling the wenches in the castle. Maybe Santorum will score a miracle win but I think Newt is mad enough to stick around at least til FL and Paul wont quit, so Romney cruises.
Compared to Newt, a proven street fighter, Santorum is a playground sissy.
Some of what they say about Newt is true — but it’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black. At least Newt has a record of doing something for conservatism, mixed as it may be, as does Santorum. Mitt is a RINO who cannot beat Obama.
Never surrender... make them kill us.
Thanks for the badly needed perspective.
Think back to June, when everyone, absolutely everyone, said Newt’s campaign was dead, over, gone and he would never be heard of again... it’s not different than that. I have been watching him the past few days, I think he is ready to let it play out... and I think it will play out in his favor...
Will you please explain to me why Romney and Fox are constantly bashing Newt? Santorum is UP in the polls..yet they still go after Gingrich with a venom almost 24/7 on Fox and with the ads? are they that afraid of him? I really don’t get it.
It has crossed the line of debating political differences or even jabbing a bit...it has become a vendetta. Why? it’s as if they are out to destroy him.
>>The worst thing about a Romney nomination is that a lot of conservatives will stay home, and we will probably lose the House and break even in the Senate.
That would really be too bad. I do believe it will come down to Romney/Obama, and I believe Romney could win - a lot of middle-of-the-road voters who would never vote for a real conservative, might vote for a moderate Romney. I can live with Romney in the WH, *if* we have a Republican senate AND house. If we have a split, or democratic senate/house - Romney will be a disaster.
