Former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich drew a clear distinction between himself and his rivals, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, and insisted in an interview with me today that hes the best conservative candidate to beat President Obama.
He also fought back against the idea that hes dividing up the conservative vote.
I think as people look at his record and then imagine him debating Obama, Obama is going to laugh at him, Gingrich said on GMA. We have to look at what kind of a choice do we want for the country.

I disagree, but keep it up & see what happens.
When Nixon was running against Kennedy for the 1960 election he was considered by many to have won the debates carried only on radio, however, the televised debates were another issue. Unfortunately, as you say, the camera favors style and appearance over substance, and as we’ve seen the debate format and moderation can heavily skew the thing.
An excellent post wouldn't feed into the media's inevitable Obama-supporting narrative.
Really? The King and his loyalists know EVERYTHING about all the candidates ... even things the candidates have forgotten.
Romney asked for it when his supporters buried Gingrich under a barrage of insulting adds. I have seen them and too many were ad hominem. Slaps in the face. The debate will be a chance for Newt to get even, although he has to take care no to arouse sympathy for Romney. Santorum needs to stay positive, for the most part, si it doesnt seem like piling on.
We expect childish characterizations about our candidates from the other side. We're supposed to be about substance.
The truth be damned.
Thats not 'truth', its an opinion.
I don’t disagree at all. That’s really the whole point to what I was saying. The manner in which Newt continues on matters and since the Iowa results he’s come accross the wrong way (just my opinion). Hence why I think he needs to get back on his message and draw clear distinctions between himself and the other candidates, responding to negative attacks when required, but doing so without appearing whiny. Tough to do and a fine line to walk.
