Doin stuff aint why we choose a president.
You make my point well. Many conservatives want someone who talks the game but always forget that talk is cheap. Gingrich, warts and all, has been at the forefront of modern conservative activism for years. Perry has been a successful conservative big-state governor. Even Huntsman has been a good conservative governor, albeit in a small already conservative state.
Minor-leaguers like Santorum, Cain, and Bachmann are talkers. They’ve never had to make actual executive decisions in the political realm. They vote on procedures, they talk in the well, they go on tv. That’s the easy part of being a conservative. “When I get elected I’m eliminating the Dept of Education!” We all know, of course, that is total BS and is never going to happen. It’s just yak. But it sure sounds good.
Give me Perry, Gingrich, or Huntsman anytime. They’ve all made mistakes, but that’s because they’ve actually been IN the game, not just talking about the game.
“You make my point well. Many conservatives want someone who talks the game but always forget that talk is cheap.”
You miss my point. I don’t want a president who ‘does stuff’. I want them to be the perfect do-nothing president.
Look at Obama. If we want a president to ‘do stuff’, then he’s perfect.
Get out of the way of the American people, and let us live our lives without the Presidency getting in the way.
“Gingrich, warts and all, has been at the forefront of modern conservative activism”
Bully for him. I don’t want an activist.
“Minor-leaguers like Santorum, Cain, and Bachmann”
Well that minor leaguer just drubbed Newt in Iowa.
