Bon Jovi helps White House launch summer jobs initiative

Rock icon Jon Bon Jovi visited the White House on Thursday.

The singer tweeted about his visit and also participated in a Twitter chat with Jon Carson, the director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. Carson tweeted a picture of the meeting.

Bon Jovi’s visit was meant to raise awareness for the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation’s participation in a new White House initiative announced Thursday.

The White House issued a call to action it named "Summer Jobs+," part of President Obama’s “We can’t wait” campaign against a gridlock-prone Congress.

The initiative is a show of cooperation between the federal government and private sector entities with the goal of creating 180,000 employment opportunities for low-income youth in the summer of 2012. The program will include a Summer Jobs+ Bank, a one-stop digital resource for the digital generation, the statement says.

Bon Jovi is also a member of Obama's White House Council for Community Solutions.

Vetting the Kenyan and his friends is very important. Hey, maybe the icon can hire a few folks to work the farm.

NJ's 'fake farmers' — like Jon Bon Jovi — dodging millions in taxes

The rolls of those with farm-assessed land in New Jersey read like a who's who in the world of high finance, business and entertainment. Those in the rich-and-famous category with approved applications for tax breaks in 2009 and 2010 include:

I mean Stevie Ray Vaughan is dead, and we can’t get Jon Bon Jovi in a helicopter? Come on, folks. “Get on that helicopter John. Shut the &^$# up and get on that helicopter! There’s a hair dresser in there. Yeah, go ahead in there, yeah yeah.”

I have a tax question:

IF they find all these ‘summe jobs’ for these ‘yutes’, do all these kids get to file for Earned Income Tax Credit when they file their income tax returns???

EITC can run as high as $4500, IIRC. One useless kid I know can hardly hold a job, but files his ‘taxes’ each year & gets PAID more money than anything near what he ‘paid in’.
