This is exactly the kind of thing I just slammed Shield for

This is not nearly Perry’s position on Immigration. Perry eants strategic fencing that would allow Democrats to continue to set ROEs for BP and NG troops just like they did to bush, leaving them DANGEROUSLY OPEN TO BEING SHOT by gangs etc.

A fence takes the power for such duplicity away from democrats. I defy anyone to prove that incorrect.

Newt Gingrich Signs Pledge to Build Border Fence

DES MOINES, Iowa — Newt Gingrich continued to shore up his right flank on immigration Thursday, signing a pledge to build a fence along the U.S. – Mexico border by the end of 2013 if he becomes president.

The pledge follows comments he made earlier this week in South Carolina that were also intended to ease concerns among conservatives that Mr. Gingrich is not tough enough on immigration. Those concerns surfaced at a the most recent Republican primary debate during which Mr. Gingrich said he would like to find a path to legality for some of the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S.

Mr. Gingrich said he has long supported a border fence, but added that when it comes to immigration “we have not been a serious country.”

The pledge was created by a North Carolina organization called Americans for Securing the Border and presented Thursday by its chairman, Van D. Hipp Jr., who called the fence “one of the most important issues of our time.”

Mr. Hipp said Mr. Gingrich has been in talks with his organization for months but he reached out to them again last week after the debate. Mr. Hipp said Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is the only other Republican candidate who has signed the pledge.

Then here’s another change for Newt. I attended the Gingrich/Cain debate in Houston as one of the invited bloggers and was present when Gingrich was asked about his plan for border security. He didn’t tell us that he’d put a fence along the 1200 mile Rio Grande border, but he did talk about his guest worker program.

The ROE under Perry would not increase the danger to BP and NG. We know this because (Perry is not Bush and) we see the ROE for the DPS and Texas Rangers that the Governor has sent to augment the failing efforts of the DHS.

Well then lets work at getting Perry to sign this pledge.

But honestly, are pledges that important and can they be relied upon or carried out ?? Are they a legal document or ???
( I dunno so I’m asking a sincere question here )

By the way, have you read his book FED UP! ??? I’m reading it now and it’s awesome.
