Next topic: Illegal Aliens. Using the above legal logic, can States keep their own anti-illegal alien laws ?

The 2007 AZ law on forcing businesses to use E-Verify was upheld by SCOTUS last year. The AZ 1070 bill, parts of which were found unconstitutional by the lower courts, will be heard by SCOTUS this year. SC, AL, and several other states have passed similar laws. The feds are suing them. In sum, we will have a better idea of where the courts stand on states enforcing federal immigration law when it comes before SCOTUS.
