If Governor Perry can hold off until the southern states have their primaries, he may start pulling off some victories. He has a wide appeal in the southern states.

I looked over the Iowa Caucus results per the map at iowacaucus.com, and saw something that interested me (though I am not a political analyst). Of the 99 Iowa counties, Perry carried two outright (Gingrich did not) and Perry at least placed (was one of the top four selected) in 38 of the 99 counties (this is 36 plus the two he carried). There seemed to be more support for him in the central, western and southern counties of the state. That tells me that there is indeed support for Perry out there, even where he didn't obviously have it, and things are not as dismal as they seem. He spent money in Iowa and Texas supporters went there, and this is the result. It's not great, it didn't win him the caucuses, but it's not as if he was invisible either.

Food for thought, at least.
