For me, when my dad died, when I walked into the funeral room, I saw the US Flag on his casket, he was in the military.
When I saw the American flag covering his casket, it took away the sting of my dad's death, some how ? it made it all better and I knew I was going to make it.

My best friend was a Medevac helicopter pilot in the Nam. One evening he was on a mission to pick up some wounded from a hot LZ. He was hit.
So, how long does it take you to get over that?
No funeral I knew of. No way to contact his family ~ no idea where they were since they'd split up and moved different places ~ no where even to send a card.
I thought I'd keep my eye open for anyone who'd known him in Nam, and finally, after 30 years I found those people.
30 years. It was like yesterday. Even now writing about it I feel the emotion of that very time.
Colmes is not normal!
