I asked the security guy if I had to check in CCW. He said “Aww hell naw! That’s for repairs and returns!

Same thing with our local Gander Mountain. I feel respected there, even though I don't flaunt my CCW (after all, concealed means concealed).

“Clearly, the laws are too strict here, but that’s something we need to work out for ourselves without honoring licenses to carry guns in states where felons can carry them,” he said.

Strawman argument.

There are no such states.

I'm generally familiar with guns laws in other states - certainly make sure I know regarding states I'm traveling through. But...are there states where "felons can carry them?"

Nope. This is the problem with arguing about gun control - the proponents are basing their opinions on lies which the believe to be the unvarnished truth, and when you point out the truth to them, they think you're in the pay of the NRA.

Yeah, how sick that they call for mercy to further their insane cause, rather than mercy because it’s warranted. Liberal Democrats are part of the Axis of Evil.

Which states allow that?

By prosecuting this woman and seeking 3 1/2 years of jail, we are shooting our own [gun-control] efforts in the foot and giving the rest of the country ammunition," Vallone said.

The law is doing what it is designed to do, make felons out of those who don't toe the legislator's line.

Will he ofer the same excuse for ALL others in a similar predicament against HIS law? Why is this lady special?

Why is this lady special?

1. She is a poster child for the stupidity and injustice of the New York law. 2. She made national news, and exposes New York City's stupidity, injustice, and flouting of the rule of law for all to see. 3. She therefore threatens the NYC establishment's power, and the quickest and easiest way to avoid their predicament is to make a special case for her. 4. They are used to giving special "deals" all the time, so that they rule essentially by fiat. The rule of law is something that merely is an impediment to their rule.

They seem to be feeling embarrassed by the police state they have created.

Where is the ACLU? I can possibly see this becoming a SCOTUS case.

Actually it is not a completely fallacious argument.

It is not impossible in many states.

In some states a felon can have his right to own firearms restored to him. In Ohio a felon can petition the state to have those rights restored. It is a long process requiring the person to show that he/she is reformed and with out offending for some time.

You may recall that Clinton when running for his first term pardoned a friend of his so that he could resume hunting. So pardoned felons reasonably could get a CCW.

There are also some activist in Ohio seeking to make it automatic for felons to have their 2nd Amendment rights restore after completing their sentence.

I personally may not be opposed to that if the offence was non-violent. It is an issue I would have to study for some time.
