Me: I took it to translate as “In order to appear unbias, I will pretend it isn’t me saying and believing this and say that “there are some who say.” That way, maybe those listening to me, will think that there is a majority of people who think and say this and it’s not just something I think and believe and therefor would be called to task over.”
Sure point taken but in many cases it amounts to more or less the same thing. Unless you believe that the press “corps” is composed of vibrant, intellectual, independent deep thinkers (I don’t) then Journolist A’s “opinions” are probably very highly correlated with Jounolist B’s “opinions”.
I doubt seriously that any of these geniuses actually “think” in the commonly understood meaning of the term. I think they mostly parrot and regurgitate.
