DES MOINES - As Texas Governor Rick Perry makes his final pre-caucus appearances before Iowa voters today, he will be joined on the stump by a figure whos well-known locally: 2000 presidential candidate Steve Forbes.
....But also joining Perry will be someone who once preferred to live in the shadows: former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.
He received the Navy Cross after surviving a vicious 2005 battle in which three of his fellow SEALs were killed when they were discovered inside Afghanistan while pursuing a Taliban leader.
Luttrell later wrote about the experience in his book, The Lone Survivor. It is being made into a Peter Berg movie due for release next year.
Unlike Forbes, Luttrell isnt expected to testify today to Perrys policy. Rather, he will speak to his character.
In a story Perry himself related to me, CNNs Peter Hamby, and BuzzFeed/Politicos Ben Smith during a chance encounter at Des Moiness Django restaurant last night, Luttrell and the governor formed a bond after their own chance meeting on Coronado Island in San Diego.

Over time, Rick and Anita Perry - the parents of two children - offered him a spare bedroom in the third floor of their Austin-area home. (They still are unable to live in the Texas Governors Mansion since it was burned by an arsonist while being renovated in 2008.)

Two great people Rick Perry and Marcus Luttrell.
You know what I like in that picture, and other pictures of the two of them together?
You can see "where they came from"..She, was obviously the "catch", the beautiful, strong willed, yet, lady like Doctor's daughter, and he was the hard working, weather beaten, son of a tenant farmer..rugged, no child of privilege... yet, you can see they are still so much in love with each other, the respect they have for each other.
I contrast that with the pictures you see of the currrent occupant of the WH, and his spouse where she often looks like she can't stand her husband, they're wearing horrible clothes, and look like they think they are Emperor and Empress...or doing something like when Moochelle jumped in front of Prince Phillip to hog the camera..or Barry put his hand in front of the President of Mongolia's (?) face at that Summit..
I LOVE this!!! Good for Perry!!!!!
Thanks!
Go Perry!
