Bill (and his all-amateur crew) are building a shelter at a county park. I think it was supposed to be about 10’x12’, but it’s grown now since they set the posts in the wrong spot! It will include a bulletin board, racks for park information, and (now) two rows of cubbyholes/lockers for users of the hiking and bicycling trails to store their things while using the park.
Tom (#2 son) is beginning to organize a project at a different park, something to do with paving and landscaping near a nature center. Our troop has two boys who are nearly 18, so they have to finish their projects before Tom, who is only 15, can use the work-force. And of course, landscaping goes better in the spring/summer. The Mecklenburg parks department has a list of things that need to be built, repaired, and maintained, and has supplies or money for supplies, but doesn’t have any workers available, so it’s a great opportunity for Scouts.
Wow!
