We have two “certified” wood stoves, but the wood we have to burn is 5 years old and has relatively few BTUs left in it. It produces prodigious quantities of ash but very little heat. What is more, I will not leave the house once a fire is lit. Too many homes have burnt down that way. Our home is two stories. In my current condition it is difficult to schlepp firewood up two flights of stairs from outside around the corner.

I didn’t realise that wood loses it’s btu’s over time like that. It’s fixed now, right?

Have you noticed the days are starting to stay light for longer? It won’t be long now before spring is here!
